Product Description

Napoleon Hamptons Square Patioflame Fire Table

A 40,000 BTU/hr gas fire table, 42" square and 25" high, that becomes a full table when the fire is off. The Napoleon Hamptons HAMP2-GY has a grey hand-painted aluminum table top over a base that hides the propane cylinder behind an access door, a stainless steel burner with a topaz glass ember bed, push-button electronic ignition, and a thermocouple safety valve that shuts the gas off if the flame goes out. A matching lid covers the burner when it is not in use, and the natural gas orifice is in the box. from $1,499.

Choose it if you want a finished fire table to set on a patio or deck rather than a base to build, running from a 20 lb or 30 lb propane cylinder tucked inside the base, with a lid that turns it back into a table for drinks and plates.

It is not right for you if you want a fire pit you build into a patio. The Hamptons is a finished fire table that sets on a patio or deck, with a lid that turns it back into a table for drinks and plates.

Specifications

The table is 42" wide by 42" deep by 25" high and stands on leveling feet; it is approved for use on combustible floors. Keep 24" to side walls and 72" from the top of the unit to any ceiling or overhead; the overhead clearance and maximum overhang are drawn on page 6 of the installation manual. Maximum inlet pressure is 7.0" w.c. on natural gas and 11.0" w.c. on propane. It is listed to ANSI Z21.97-2014 / CSA 2.41-2014 for outdoor decorative gas appliances.

HAMP2-GY vs. the Hamptons Rectangle Patioflame Fire Table

The Hamptons Rectangle (HAMP1-GY) is rated the same 40,000 BTU/hr, with the same ignition, glass ember bed and warranty, but its own burner and lid on a 52" x 32" footprint at the same 25" height for a long, narrow seating area. Pick the HAMP2-GY for a square group of chairs and the HAMP1-GY for a rectangular one — from $1,499 vs from $1,499.

Answers to common questions

Does it need a chimney or any venting?

No. It is an outdoor decorative gas appliance that burns in the open air, so there is no vent to run. What it needs instead is the right location: outdoors on a patio or in a yard, never inside a building, garage, screened-in porch or gazebo. Under an overhead cover it can have no more than two sidewalls, or three when at least 30% of the surrounding sides stay permanently open.

Where can I put it, and what clearances does it need?

Outdoors on a patio, deck or in a yard; it is approved for use on combustible floors. Keep 24" to side walls and 72" from the top of the unit to any ceiling or overhead. A sheltered spot is best, because direct wind makes the flame erratic and the burner shuts down in winds over 10 mph. Avoid places that get very wet or where water runs or collects.

What’s included, what’s required, and what’s optional?
  • Included in the box: Grey hand-painted aluminum table with access door, tank bracket and leveling feet; Square stainless steel burner with control knob, push-button igniter and thermocouple safety valve; Topaz glass embers; Matching lid that covers the burner; Propane regulator and hose assembly; Natural gas orifice and conversion label.
  • Required to complete the installation, purchased separately: Gas supply - a 20 lb or 30 lb propane cylinder with a QCC1 valve, or a natural gas line with a manual shut-off valve, connected by a licensed gas fitter; Battery - one AAA battery for the push-button igniter; An outdoor site with 24" of clearance to combustible side walls and 72" of open space above, ideally sheltered from the wind (the square windscreen is an optional add-on, not a requirement).
  • Optional: Square windscreen and colored glass embers (amber, clear, black, blue or red) — the table ships with topaz glass embers and runs without either.
Can it run on natural gas instead of propane?

Yes. It ships set up for propane, with the cylinder sitting inside the base. The natural gas orifice and a conversion label are in the box; a licensed gas fitter swaps the orifice and connects the line, which needs a manual shut-off valve and a 7" w.c. supply sized for the run. Output is 40,000 BTU/hr on either fuel.

Do I need the windscreen?

Not to run it. The table works without one, but direct wind makes the flame erratic and the burner shuts down in gusts over 10 mph, so on an open, breezy patio the square windscreen keeps the flame steady. Choose it above, or skip it if your table sits in a sheltered spot.

Can I use it as a regular table, and what about rain?

Yes. Once the burner is off and has cooled, the matching lid goes over it and the top becomes a full table; take the lid off before lighting. Turn the fire off when it rains — drainage holes in the burner pan let the water run out — and cover the table when you are not using it.

How does the warranty work if I buy it online?

Napoleon's President's 3 Year Limited Warranty covers the aluminum table top and pedestal, the stainless steel housing and the burner assembly for 3 years and all other parts for 2 years, with replacement parts supplied by Napoleon; labour is not covered. It applies to a home installation done by a licensed technician or contractor. Keep your invoice and the model and serial number.
