Product Description

Napoleon Knightsbridge GDS60 Direct Vent Gas Stove

35,000 BTU/hr input on natural gas from a cast-iron stove 27" wide, 30-1/2" high and 19-1/2" deep. The Napoleon Knightsbridge GDS60 is a metallic black direct vent gas stove for natural gas or propane, with a seven-piece PHAZER log set behind ceramic glass and a safety barrier, electronic ignition with an AA battery backup, and a top or rear vent exit on 4" / 7" pipe, from $4,779, covered by Napoleon's President's Limited Lifetime Warranty.

Choose the Knightsbridge if you want a traditional cast-iron stove on legs that still lights in a power failure: electronic ignition with an AA battery backup, a seven-piece log set behind ceramic glass, and approval for bedrooms and bathrooms. Its vent can leave from the top or the back, so the pipe can go out through a wall, up through the roof, or up a masonry chimney on a co-linear liner.

It is not right for you if you want a modern, minimalist stove. The Knightsbridge is traditional cast iron on legs, and it still lights in a power failure.

Specifications

The Knightsbridge is 27" wide, 30-1/2" high and 19-1/2" deep. Keep 6" to a combustible side wall, 6" to the back wall, 2" in a 45° corner (where the blower and on/off switches may be hard to reach), 20" from the top of the stove to the ceiling and 6" to a single-wall connector. Furniture stays 48" from the front. On wood flooring it needs nothing underneath; on carpet, vinyl tile or another combustible floor it sits on a metal or wood panel the full width and depth of the stove. The vent pipe is 4" exhaust inside 7" intake, up to 20 ft horizontally or 40 ft vertically, and keeps 2" on top and 1" at the sides and bottom of horizontal runs, 1" all round on vertical runs.

How the Knightsbridge compares to the Napoleon Havelock

The Havelock GDS50 is the bigger Napoleon direct vent gas stove — the 2026 book rates it up to 44,000 BTU against the Knightsbridge's 35,000. The Knightsbridge starts from $4,779; the Havelock starts from $4,429. Pick the Knightsbridge for the cast-iron look.

Answers to common questions

What venting does the Knightsbridge need, and is it included?

The vent pipe and termination are sold separately; the stove comes with a firestop for the wall pass-through. It vents through 4" exhaust / 7" intake direct vent pipe from a top or rear exit — out through a wall, up through the roof, or up a masonry chimney on a 3" co-linear liner — up to 20 ft horizontally or 40 ft vertically. Napoleon's GD-175 stove wall terminal kit includes its pipe, roof kits cover 1/12 to 12/12 pitches and flat roofs, and a periscope handles a wall exit below grade. Wolf Steel, Simpson DuraVent and Selkirk Direct Temp pipe is approved, the DuraVent and Selkirk systems each through the starter adaptor specified for it, and a ceiling pass-through needs its own firestop. We can put the vent package together for your run.

Can it vent out the back instead of the top?

Yes. The vent exit converts from top to rear, and a rear-exit install needs Napoleon's GS831K trivet, which is sold separately. If a rear exit goes straight out through the wall with no vertical run, the installer fits the smaller orifice that comes with the stove, which turns it down to 21,000 BTU/hr input.

How close can it sit to a wall, and what goes under it?

Keep 6" to a combustible side wall, 6" to the back wall, 2" in a 45° corner and 20" from the top of the stove to the ceiling. At 2" from a wall the blower switch, on/off switch and blower cord may be hard to reach. Keep furniture 48" from the front. Wood flooring needs nothing underneath; on carpet, vinyl tile or another combustible floor the stove sits on a metal or wood panel covering its full width and depth.

What’s included, what’s required, and what’s optional?
  • Included in the box: Metallic black cast-iron body with a lift-off cast top; Seven-piece PHAZER log set with glowing embers; 5 mm ceramic glass door with safety barrier; Electronic pilot-on-demand ignition with AA battery backup; Flame height adjustment and the 100% SAFE GUARD gas control system; Gas flex connector with manual shut-off valve; Firestop for the vent's pass-through in an exterior wall; Napoleon President's Limited Lifetime Warranty.
  • Required to complete the installation, purchased separately: Venting - 4" exhaust / 7" intake direct vent pipe and a wall or roof termination sized for your run, such as Napoleon's GD-175 stove wall terminal kit, which includes its pipe (see pg 9 in the installation manual); Trivet - only if the stove vents out the back (rear exit) instead of the top; Napoleon's GS831K trivet is required there; Gas Line - a 1/2" gas supply run to the stove's flex connector and shut-off valve by a qualified installer; Floor Panel - on carpet, vinyl tile or another combustible floor other than wood, a metal or wood panel under the full width and depth of the stove; Power - household electrical power for the ignition, plus a grounded outlet if you add the optional blower; four AA batteries for the backup are not supplied; Securing Kit - in a manufactured (mobile) home the stove must be fastened in place; the leg leveling and stove securing kit (GDSLL-KT) does that.
  • Optional: The blower kit, the remote controls and, outside a mobile home, the leg leveling and securing kit — the stove runs without any of them.
Will the Knightsbridge heat my room?

Treat it as a fire to look at, not a heater. It burns up to 35,000 BTU/hr and puts out up to 27,300 BTU/hr on natural gas, and an optional blower moves warm air into the room, but Napoleon certifies it as a vented decorative gas appliance rather than a heat source. If you need a stove to heat a space, it is the wrong choice.

Does it work in a power failure?

The fire does. The ignition normally runs on household power, and a battery holder for four AA batteries keeps it lighting when the power is out. The optional blower plugs into an outlet, so it stops until the power comes back.

Can it go in a bedroom or a mobile home?

It is approved for bedrooms, bathrooms and bed-sitting rooms, but not for a closet or a recessed opening. It is also approved for a permanently located manufactured (mobile) home where local codes allow; in the United States it must be vented vertically there, and it must be fastened in place with the GDSLL-KT leveling and securing kit.

Can the Knightsbridge vent into an existing B-vent chimney instead?

Yes. With Napoleon's GS-150KT B-vent adaptor kit it becomes a natural-vent stove that vents up a B-vent or lined chimney serving no wood-burning appliance, with a spill switch that shuts the gas off if the flue is blocked. Converted, it is the GS60-1 in Napoleon's manual, which is approved for bedrooms and bed-sitting rooms and needs 1" all round the B-vent pipe.

Does buying from The Torch Guys affect my Napoleon warranty?

No. Napoleon's President's Limited Lifetime Warranty covers the original purchaser who buys through an authorized Napoleon dealer and has the stove installed by a licensed, qualified installer; there is nothing to register, so keep your proof of purchase with the model and serial number. It covers the combustion chamber, heat exchanger, burner, logs and embers, ceramic glass (thermal breakage) and porcelain parts for as long as you own the stove, electrical and wearing parts such as the blower for one year, and labour for the first year.
