The 49" sits at a sensible point in the Mason-Lite range. It is meaningfully wider than the 44" — enough that the fireplace reads as a feature rather than an opening — without jumping to the 63" and its 16" flue.
The flue is the real distinction. This unit takes a 14" flue, the 44" takes 12", and the 63" needs 16". Each step up is a materially more expensive chimney system, so the 49" is often the widest firebox a project can carry before the venting cost starts driving the budget.
Pre-cast modular concrete sections stack and mortar together into a genuine refractory firebox. No footing, no crane, no week of bricklaying. The assembled unit weighs 1,958 lbs but arrives as pieces a crew carries through a door.
What you end up with behaves like site-built masonry because it is masonry — it stores and re-radiates heat, and it will outlast most of the house around it.
Ships with a knock-out and concrete plug. Leave it mortared and burn wood; knock it out for a gas line. The decision does not have to be made at purchase.
Suits flush, corner, internal wall or full projection installation. Depth is 30", consistent across the Mason-Lite range, which makes it straightforward to swap sizes during design without redrawing the wall.

For Alaska, Hawaii, and U.S. territories, please contact us for a custom shipping quote, which we'll provide within 1-2 business days. Orders to these locations are not processed until shipping costs are confirmed and approved. We do not currently offer international shipping outside of the United States and its territories.

Custom-made and made-to-order products require 2-3 weeks for production before shipment. Special order items typically take 1-2 weeks. You'll receive tracking information once your order ships.
